Malaysia : Truly Asia

Malaysia : Truly Asia

Malaysia a country rich in culture heritage and offers many attractions. People who visit the place can have two distinct experiences. One in the Peninsula and the other one is Borneo. Borneo is an island shared with Indonesia and Brunei. Tourists come here because of its interesting places, which include beautiful islands, luxury resort and colonials towns. Some visit the place for wild jungle, orangutans, granite peaks and remote tribes.

Millions of tourists come to Malaysia every year. In fact, in 2010 almost 2 million tourists from neighboring countries such as Singapore and Indonesia visited the place. However, most of Southeast Asian visitors prefer to visit Thailand than Malaysia. It is because not many people know where to go in the country. This is also the reason why Malaysia do not seem to get attention as much as Thailand. Some travelers also say that traveling to Malaysia can be quite expensive.

So whether you are out of the country for some beach experience or planning to have a visit at the jungle, here are Malaysia’s top destination you should not miss.

img_4673

In my years of living abroad there had been no time that i forgot my hometown. A place where I grew up and molded me to become the best person that I can be. It is where I find solitude and serenity by simply walking along the countryside of this magnificent province.

Misamis Occidental is a province situated in the northern part of Mindanao. Oroquieta City is the capital and Ozamis City is the business hub of the province because it is where the airport located and mostly business establishments are there. It’s just an hour and 15 minutes away by plane from Metro Manila and there are two flights daily either by CebuPac or PAL.
As a person it is important not to take for granted the place that saw all your endeavors and achievements in life. As the famous line ” ang Hindi marunong lumingon ay di makakarating sa kanyang paroroonan” so it is with great pride and honor to take you to a place that will make you fall in love again.

Taboc Hanging Bridge

Upon reaching the City, it won’t be hard to find a place to stay coz there are cheap yet nice hotels around the area. One famous destination in the city is their Boulevard or “the city plaza” as the locals call it. The Boulevard is facing the sea and the best spot to experience the best sunrise you’ll ever witness. A breathe of fresh and crisp air, sound of the waves that rushing thru the shores and a peaceful surrounding will make everyone’s soul ameliorate from stress. Taboc Hanging Bridge is another spot that you shouldn’t missed when you’re in the city. The bridge is made up of woods and been there for decades and still stand thru the test of time.

And try their freshly catch seafoods and fresh fruits lined on the street in a very cheap price.

It is believe to be the highest and the longest zip line in Asia. Whilst in the Park you can try horseback riding or simply staring at the sea of clouds that are covering some parts of the Province.

The Park is also a sanctuary for different and some endangered species that can only be found in the Philippines. Another thing that the Park is famous of is the Dolphin Rescue center where you can have the chance to feed some rescued dolphins and turtles and can even play with them. A motorboat or bangka will take you to the island coz it is situated in the middle of the sea, a manmade island.

Abu Dhabi : Be Fascinated with Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld

Abu Dhabi : Be Fascinated with Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld

Abu Dhabi constitutes one of the seven Emirates and the capital of the United Arab Emirates. It’s just almost 2 hours away drive from Dubai by public bus which will cost you like 20 dirhams because up to this writing there has been no train yet that will take you to Abu Dhabi from Dubai. The biggest oil reserves in the country is said to be located here. Aside from petroleum Abu Dhabi is trying their best to become an International Aviation Hub like that of Dubai by putting extra effort to make its flag carrier Etihad Airways one of the bests or be the best Airline in the future.

Aside from other tourist destinations that Abu Dhabi can offer to its visitors like the Emirates Palace and the Grand Mosque. There are two attractions that I’ve been to that would make your Abu Dhabi escapades a memorable one and that when you heard the place Abu Dhabi these two theme parks will come to your mind first.

Ferrari World
Ferrari World

The first theme park that opened its Door to tourists and locales last November of 2010 is the ever famous Ferrari World. Ferrari World is said to be the First and Only Ferrari theme Park in the world and has the record of the largest space frame built. Formula Rossa which is still the holder of the fastest roller coaster ever built is a ride of your life that no one should ever missed. You may be terrified by the looks of it’s loop much more of its speed when it started to maneuver but there’s a feeling of fulfillment when you finished the course of the rides. It’s unexplainable.

Fiorano Duo Challenge
Fiorano Duo Challenge

But if you don’t want to torture your mind and heart with Formula Rossa, you can try Fiorano GT Challenge it’s a duel roller coaster but a bit slower than Rossa but the adrenaline rush is still present. The park has also rides available for children when you’re bringing them with you. Thus the park is not only made available for adults but for the entire Family.
My Ferrari World Adventure was just one of the best memories I had in Abu Dhabi. It is something I’m looking forward to experience it once again as I heard that the Park is adding new attractions that will make you enjoy your visit there. The Park ,by any means, has a lot to offer aside from those two being mentioned it’s just that those two were the first to popped out in my mind when I say Ferrari World but rest assured that the other attractions were fair enough to give it a try and equivalent hair raising experience.

Speed of Magic
Speed of Magic

Speed of magic too is something to watch out for and it will let you experience a 4D thrill like you’ve never done before. And the ticket price for a day access is 360 dirhams per person.

Yas Waterworld
Yas Waterworld

Another attraction that is just beside Ferrari World is the mega waterpark Yas Waterworld. Anyway both attractions are located in Yas Island. Yas Waterworld offers different kinds of rides and some of which are said to be one of its kind. Having said that because 5 of which can only be found in Yas and you won’t experience it in other water theme parks.
Bandit bomber is one attraction that you should not missed. Actually it’s a suspended roller coaster with water onboard that you can splash to all those people below and the ride itself was pretty exciting.

Dawwama
Dawwama

Me and my friends enjoyed so much with Dawwama. It’s a 20 meter like funnel tube where you and your friends ride in one raft upon release you will be twisted down like you’re inside a tornado. The ride was intoxicating though.

Nurses @ Yas Waterworld
Nurses @ Yas Waterworld

For the Price of 325 dirhams you will have the chance to ride all 40 plus rides but I doubt one day would be enough unless you will be there earlier as possible.
These two attraction promise to give you the most exciting ride of your life. A kind of ride that is worth keeping for. Its something no one would want not to come back to experience it once again coz every now and then they are adding new and exciting rides that is nowhere to be found but only in these theme parks.

Hongkong Disneyland & Universal Studios Singapore : From Fantasy to Reality

Hongkong Disneyland & Universal Studios Singapore : From Fantasy to Reality

imageIn every country or city I visited one of the few things I looked for is their themed parks. I am not only a traveler but an adventurer too. I am the type who loved to experience different kinds of thrill and would like to conquer my fears whatever it takes. And of course we all have that “kid in us” who just wanted to fulfill our long time fantasies and relive those moments when we were still young.
image imageIt may sound weird because I’m a guy but the first themed park I longed to visit is Hongkong Disneyland. Ever since I was a child and I know all of us was once dreamt of becoming a prince or a princess and since then I aspire to visit Hongkong Disneyland. And this dream became reality when I was bound to Dubai and had to stay in Hongkong for 2 days. The first thing that came to my mind was Disneyland. I was totally in awe when I finally set foot in this magical kingdom. What amazed me in my entire visit there that brought out the child in me is during the “Disneyland Flight of Fantasy Parade” it was totally awesome. I couldn’t explained or describe to you my feelings at that time when I saw all my favorite Disney characters walking in front of me. Up to now the experienced I had there made me smile whenever I think of it because you would never believe me when I say I sing along with those kids around me the theme song of Disneyland. I never felt ashamed or whatever you may call it coz I’m enjoying every moment of it until night time came. The highlight was Disney in the Star fireworks it was so grand that it leaves me speechless for a couple of minutes watching those projections in the castle.
Anyway, there are 2 kinds of tickets being sold here the Standard Day and the 2-Day tickets. For Standard Day it’s HK$539 for General admission and for 2-Day it’s HK$739 for General Admission. For further details regarding ticket ranges you may visit Hongkong Disneyland website.
imageTo young adult and those kids at heart whatever your gender may be I suggest to visit Hongkong Disneyland even once in your life and I guarantee you will cherish every moment of your stay there and you will be coming back to Disneyland. Like me it was like I’m living those fantasies of my childhood a dream that became a reality.
imageAnother theme park I was able to visit just recently is the Universal Studios in Singapore. If Disneyland is more of a fantasy animated type, Universal Studios for me is more like of a Sci-Fi attraction coz it’s mostly based on movies and offers a different kind of thrill. If you are a fan of Transformers, Jurassic park et al then Universal Studios is the best place for you. One of the many things I will never forget there is “The Museum” it’s as if you were really in ancient Egypt with all those structures that lined up going inside the Pyramid. As shown in the pictures you can tell how stunning the view really is. For sure you will be static when you were there living like an Egyptian.
imageAside from the Transformers, you can also try other intergalactic rides an out of this world ride that will make you scream like there’s no tomorrow. Though it was really scary I was still able to ride one of those and tried to conquer my fear coz in the first place that was one of my reasons why I travel to explore places, meet different people and conquer the fear of the unknown.
imageThe entrance fee or Standard One Day Pass is S$74. For more information regarding ticket details you may visit Universal studios Singapore website.
Universal studios in Singapore is something you won’t regret of going. The experience is priceless and it’s worth keeping for. Memories that you can be proud of sharing to your friends. My only advice is for you to have a VVIP access so you won’t waste your time queuing for a single attraction same as in Disneyland. Though it may cost you a little extra but it’s fine than losing your whole time queuing and not able to try all the rides.
I know not all of us have that once in a lifetime chance to travel places but don’t lose your hope in achieving your dreams. Life may not be a fairytale like those attractions present in those two parks but holding on to your childhood fantasies and striving hard who knows in the near future you will be living your own fantasies that everyone dream of.

Dubai : A Dream Destination

Dubai : A Dream Destination

In my life long journey of exploring and discovering new things around the world I would delineate Dubai as a place where modern and unique architectural designs are possible. Dubai may be a minute place in terms of land area compare to other progressive cities in the world but in other aspects Dubai may top of the lists like in tourism industry and just recently Emirates Airline topped the list of worlds best airline. That’s why every day thousands of tourists are arriving in the world’s largest and busiest airport to date. Because the city never stops in excogitating something new and fresh to its tourists.

Burj Al Arab
Burj Al Arab

In my experienced, the first thought that came to my mind about this place , Dubai, is desert, oil and camels but as soon as I stepped in to this magnificent City everything changed and my eyes were mesmerized of the things I saw. It was directly opposite to what I expected of this City, the skyline is stunning and everything is close to perfection.

The Dancing Fountain
The Dancing Fountain

Burj Khalifa
Burj Khalifa

On my first day I went directly to the biggest mall in the world, The Dubai Mall, like every other malls I’ve been to there are some similarities with it, the thing is the mall houses also the worlds largest indoor aquarium the first of its kind in the Persian Gulf, The Dubai Mall Aquarium. The Aquarium has more than a thousand species of mammals lived in harmony with each other and it offers new attractions every now and then. After which I witnessed the ever famous “Dancing Fountain” just beside the majestic Burj Khalifa. Anyway Burj is an Arabic term for Tower. It was a picturesque view that I would love to keep forever. Before I ended my first day I stopped over to another mall, The Mall of the Emirates where you can find the first indoor ski attraction, The Ski Dubai. It’s also one of the many firsts that you can find here in Dubai.

Dune Bashing
Dune Bashing

Second Day I tried to experience the Arabian life through Dune Bashing, Belly Dancing and Camel Riding. I was kinda skeptical for a moment to try the 4×4 dune bashing I don’t really have so much trust for the driver then but when he started to drive all the fear in me squeezed me out and I just wanted to scream like there’s no tomorrow but unexpectedly I was liking it. I had so much fun the whole night through everything was new to me and I can assure you it’s a “must try”.

@ Gold Souq
@ Gold Souq

On my 3rd Day I went to the Gold Souq. Souq is a Arabic term for “open market area”. When you want to buy gold in more affordable prices but with good qualities then that’s a perfect place for you. It’s also a place where you can find some Arabic goods and souvenirs for all your loved ones back home. You will never go wrong when you visit the Souq because everything there is made from authentic Arabic materials.

The Atlantis Hotel
The Atlantis Hotel

On my last day in Dubai I went to the Atlantis Hotel and Aquaventure. The hotel is located on the tip of the Palm Jumeirah. It’s just one of the largest man made structure in the City. Largest in the sense that it is visible to the naked eye if you are in the moon or inside a satellite. The Atlantis Aquaventure is one of the largest water themed parks in Dubai because just a few kilometers away from it is the equally famed “Wild Wadi Adventure” themed park.
These are just few of the many things to explore in Dubai and I promised myself that time that I will be back to discover more of Dubai and the other Emirates. And everything fell perfectly in the right place as I was destined to work in Dubai after a few months I visited the beautiful City.
I will keep you posted about my life here in this grandiose City and my sweet escapades to relieve my feeling of homesickness back home. Please leave a comment below if you want to know more about this place. Shokran!
